Policies & FAQ

Is this a preschool / daycare with a full-time drop-off program?

No, we are not a preschool and do not provide childcare services.  Our part-time programs range from one to three hours. A parent or caregiver is required to stay on the premises at all times to assist with the Gentle Transition process.

Where should I store my stroller or scooter?

All strollers and scooters must be folded and hung on the orange hooks by the front door downstairs. For large strollers and bikes that do not fold, we will provide you with a bike lock to lock your items outside.

Are snacks provided?

Snacks (goldfish, cheerios, and cheeze-its) and water are provided in all of our classes. Parents can send in an additional snack with their child if they wish. Please note: there NO NUTS, PEANUTS, SESAME OIL, or SOY products allowed in our facility.

Do you celebrate birthdays during class time?

Yes! Birthdays are special at Park Slope Montessori, and parents are encouraged to celebrate with their child’s class. Please schedule the celebration date with the teacher and discuss any treats and dietary restrictions with them. We also ask that you bring in a photograph from each year of your child’s life that we can share with the class.

What if my child is ill?

A child who has had a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting within the past twenty-four hours may not come to school. Children must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication when they return. Children who are cranky, fatigued, are sneezing and/or coughing or have thick and heavily running mucus should also stay home.

Do you offer babysitting services?

No, we do not. Please be advised that employees of Park Slope Montessori are specifically prohibited from accepting employment as a babysitter from any family at the school.

What is your cancellation policy?

Any cancellation of private sessions must be done at least 4 hours prior to the start any session in order to be credited for such cancellation. Credit is applicable to a make-up session within the same calendar month only. Please be aware that we do not refund untimely cancellations.

All classes must be attended consecutively, unless prior arrangement has been made with the office.

If there is low enrollment we reserve the right to cancel any class. If we cancel a class due to low enrollment, you will be credited in full for all remaining sessions.
